Whenever working on refrigeration equipment remember to disconnect power to the equipment before you start. Refrigerators/freezers will accumulate dust in even the cleanest of homes or work sites. Start your cleaning by removing and cleaning the refrigerator’s front grill. Use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the refrigerator located behind the grill. Use a soft bristled brush and a vacuum cleaner to clean the accumulated dust from around the fan and the condenser coil. Continue the cleaning procedure from the backside of the unit in order to remove the dust from the other side of the coil and from around the compressor. Be careful not to deform the condensing coil during cleaning. A deformed coil will restrict airflow and reduce the unit’s efficiency.
